From Screen to Skyline in Paris.

While usually known for offering one of the best views out over the Paris skyline, the gaze has turned to Hôtel Dame Des Arts itself after its rooftop terrace was featured in the latest series of Emily in Paris. Fan-favourite Alfie’s scene in Episode 10 gives viewers an insight into why the hotel is so representative of the dynamic heritage of the city’s Latin Quarter, and the ideal base to explore this storied neighbourhood as we step into spring.

Located in the heart of the Left Bank’s creative Latin Quarter, Hôtel Dame Des Arts offers guests a front-row seat to a neighbourhood that became a vibrant hub for arthouse cinema post-WWII. Cinemas like Le Champo and Cinema du Pantheon embraced the French Nouvelle Vague movement in its spiritual birthplace. The movement served as the inspiration for award-winning interior designer Raphael Navot’s transformation of the 1950s building when it opened as Hôtel Dame des Arts in 2023, including its signature scent and cinema. The intimate cinema room regularly hosts curated events and can be hired for private screenings by guests.

The hotel’s General Manager, Matthieu Bernard elaborates: “Raphael Navot looked at how we could portray the values of Nouvelle Vague cinema, its freedom and authenticity, in the hotel experience. His design encourages a flow between areas in the same way films of this genre favoured genuine storytelling over structure. The movement between our lobby, garden, restaurant, rooftop and rooms is very natural, with a lived-in feel that creates a welcoming space for our guests as they step off the streets of Paris and into the Hôtel Dame des Arts scene.”

As one of Paris’ most walkable neighbourhoods, guests here can explore Paris with ease from the hotel’s doorstep. The Latin Quarter’s compact streets, cafés, bookshops and galleries make it one of Paris’ most rewarding neighbourhoods to wander and explore. Notre-Dame Cathedral, famed bookshop Shakespeare and Company, the banks of the Seine, the Jardins du Luxembourg and famed restaurants are all just a short stroll away.

As days get warmer and longer the hotel’s outdoor spaces also come into their own. Beyond the rooftop terrace, which transforms into a sought-after bar in the summer months, the hotel’s courtyard garden also provides an inviting oasis for a morning coffee, afternoon pause, evening drinks and dinner.
